Policy 01-07 Nebraska Tobacco Settlement Biomedical Research Dev Fund

Bio Nebraska supports the continued funding of biomedical research funding from the Nebraska Tobacco Settlement Fund. Bio Nebraska supports increasing the annual allocation from $12 million to $14 million.

 

Policy 02-07 R&D Tax Credit

Bio Nebraska supports the concept of R&D Tax Credits at both the state and federal levels.

 

Policy 03-07 Biomedical Research

Bio Nebraska supports the following statement:

Bio Nebraska’s fundamental mission is to promote economic growth in the life science and biotech industries in Nebraska. We recognize that there are significant differences in opinion on some issues relating to biomedical research. Bio Nebraska understands those differences, which are reflected within our own membership and in federal policies on research. Consistent with its mission, membership diversity and existing federal policy, Bio Nebraska does not support the adoption of additional state limitations or restrictions on research by public or private institutions in Nebraska.

 

Policy 04-07 Vaccine Development

Bio Nebraska supports vaccine development that leads to improved healthcare and disease prevention. Bio Nebraska supports regulatory clarity for vaccine production.

 

Policy 05-07 Privacy of Medical Information

Bio Nebraska supports the protection of the confidentiality of medical information, including genetic information. Individually identifiable medical information must be treated confidentially and safeguarded from misuse.

 

Policy 06-07 Prescription Drug Pricing

Bio Nebraska supports a market-based pricing system for prescription drugs and opposes price controls for prescription drugs.

 

Policy 07-07 Non-Interference Clause Under Medicare Part D

Bio Nebraska supports the “non-interference” provision in the Medicare Modernization Act of 2003 which prohibits the government from directly negotiating drug prices. Bio Nebraska opposes the repeal of “non-interference” clause under Medicare Part D.
