Central Community College

Central Community College is a multi-campus community college serving a 25-county area in central Nebraska – approximately 14,000 square miles with a population of more than 300,000.

CCC offers 37 career and technical education programs with a focus on degree, diploma and certificate programs requiring two years or less to complete. The college also offers an academic transfer program for students who want to complete the first two years of a bachelor’s degree before transferring to a four-year college or university.

Additionally, the college offers classes in communities throughout its 25-county service area, online learning and training and development for business, industries and other organizations.

The central administration office is in Grand Island. Three main campuses are located in Columbus, Grand Island and Hastings. Educational centers are located in Holdrege, Kearney, Lexington and Ord. Don’t Panic Labs

Founded in 2010, Don’t Panic Labs was created as the software development arm of Nebraska Global, a $37.3 million software investment fund located in Lincoln, Nebraska. After helping to create several local software-based companies, they discovered that their software product development processes were needed by more than early-stage companies.

Since 2014, they have partnered with companies of all sizes – from startups to Fortune 500 corporations – to build new software systems, enhance existing platforms, and level up development teams with advanced educational offerings. In 2022, Don’t Panic Labs purchased Nebraska Global’s interest in the company.

Dryland Genetics

Dryland Genetics was founded in 2014 and develops and markets new higher yielding varieties of proso millet, a crop that produces twice as much grain from the same water as corn, while having only 75% the carbon footprint. Our new, propriety, proso millet varieties, developed using a combination of conventional breeding, genomic selection, and high throughput crop imaging are producing 10-40% more grain for Nebraska, Colorado, and Kansas farmers. Faculty experts in crop genomics and breeding from the University of Nebraska and Iowa State University serve on our board of directors and our efforts are supported by investors including Next Level Ventures and Stine Seed Farm.  


Ensign Pharmaceutical

Ensign Pharmaceutical is a Nebraska-based start-up company. Ensign Pharmaceutical’s mission is to discover, develop and market novel pharmaceutical products that free patients from pain and disability associated with musculoskeletal disorders and inflammatory diseases while avoiding potential damaging side effects and assisting in more effective healing.


Evonik

Evonik Corporation’s Blair, Nebraska site, located approximately 20 miles north of Omaha, and employing about 105, manufactures Biolys®, a form of L-Lysine used to produce feed additives for swine and poultry animal nutrition. Production started in 2000 for lysine.

In addition, Evonik and DSM have formed a 50:50 Joint Venture Company called Veramaris® to the produce omega-3 fatty acids (EPA & DHA) in Blair with a natural marine algae which started up in May 2019.

Dr. Martin is a 20 year veteran of the biotechnology industry and has built and led teams and companies that have translated interesting biology into products that have had a positive impact on the lives of patients including FLUAD, an influenza vaccine licensed in Europe that includes the novel adjuvant MF59, HEPLISAV, a hepatitis B vaccine that includes the novel adjuvant 1018 and is under regulatory review in Europe, and is in phase III in the United States. He led the medical affairs team responsible for TOBI, a drug that revolutionized the care of persons with cystic fibrosis.  Dr. Martin, and his network of colleagues, have the expertise to support a wide variety of projects.

Ting Therapeutics

Ting Therapeutics LLC (Ting) was first founded in August 2018 by Dr. Jian Zuo and Dr. Tal Teitz, both of whom are faculty in Creighton University School of Medicine. The mission of Ting is to develop therapeutics to prevent and treat hearing loss. The initial focus is on low-cost, point-of-care technology to protect hearing function. The initially targeted patient populations are testicular cancer patients who receive cisplatin chemotherapy and cystic fibrosis (CF) patients who receive aminoglycosides against bacterial infection; both treatments normally cause hearing loss in more than half of these patients. In addition to developing multiple proprietary new chemical entities (NCEs), Ting has repurposed a pipeline of FDA-approved drugs for other indications: repurposing drugs can significantly expedite clinical studies with half of the cost and time.

Periodic reactivation of the latent infection results in the contagious shedding of infectious virus, which is often associated with mild or sometimes severe disease.
