Bio Nebraska testifies in support of LB784

Rob Owen, Executive Director of Bio Nebraska, testified in support of funding for wet lab space and development of biosciences companies.

The Nebraska Legislature’s Appropriations Committee held a hearing on Tuesday, March 7, where Rob Owen, Executive Director of Bio Nebraska, testified in support of funding for wet lab space and development of biosciences companies. LB784, introduced by Senator Terrell McKinney, provides $25 million over two years to iHUB partners to build the wet lab space and commercialize and develop bioscience companies in Omaha.

“Nebraska currently has 7,700 square feet of commercial wet lab space while Iowa and Kansas have tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of square feet of wet lab space,” said Rob Owen. “If we want to retain and recruit bioscience companies to Nebraska, especially start-ups, we need additional wet lab space. It’s that simple.”
