Bio Nebraska joined organizations across the nation to voice support for the bipartisan Biobased Materials Investment and Production Act.
Bio Nebraska has joined a broad coalition of national organizations in supporting the bipartisan Biobased Materials Investment and Production Act (H.R. 8137), legislation designed to strengthen America’s bioeconomy by encouraging investment in domestic biomanufacturing. Introduced by Reps. Michelle Fischbach (R-Minn.) and Nikki Budzinski (D-Ill.), the bill would establish targeted tax incentives to help companies build or expand facilities that manufacture biobased chemicals, materials, plastics and other products made from renewable agricultural feedstocks. The coalition’s letter to Congress highlights the legislation as an important step toward growing U.S. manufacturing, strengthening supply chains and creating new market opportunities for farmers and rural communities.
As a signer of the coalition letter, Bio Nebraska supports policies that accelerate innovation and reinforce the nation’s leadership in biotechnology and biomanufacturing. Nebraska’s bioscience industry is well positioned to benefit from increased investment in biobased manufacturing, which can drive economic growth, create high-quality jobs, and expand the commercialization of sustainable technologies. By supporting H.R. 8137, Bio Nebraska is advocating for a stronger domestic bioeconomy that advances innovation while creating lasting opportunities for businesses, producers, and communities across Nebraska and the country.
