Brad Roth, Ph.D.

President and Executive Director, NUtech Ventures, and Associate Vice Chancellor for Technology Development, University of Nebraska-Lincoln

Dr. Brad Roth is president and executive director of NUtech Ventures. He also serves as associate vice chancellor for technology development at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL).

Dr. Roth leads a team of licensing and intellectual property professionals responsible for engaging with faculty, staff, corporations, and others to commercialize the intellectual property arising from nearly $350 million in UNL research. He also works with a wide range of campus, corporate and community partners to encourage innovation, enhance UNL research and potential research funding, and facilitate entrepreneurship and economic development.

Prior to joining NUtech Ventures, he was director of business development for the biotechnology and clinical translation businesses at LI-COR, Inc. He also was a technology manager at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the Office of Technology Management. Additionally, he previously led a Pioneer Hi-Bred Int’l/DuPont (now Corteva) biotechnology research program for nine years and subsequently served in a technology scouting/licensing coordinator position for three years.

Dr. Roth earned a Ph.D. in genetics from Iowa State University, a B.S. in Biological Sciences from UNL, and was a post-doctoral research geneticist at USDA/UC-Berkeley Plant Gene Expression Center.
