Governor Pillen Proclaims October as “Bioscience Month”

Governor Jim Pillen signed the proclamation at Bio Nebraska’s Annual Event on October 2, 2025.

Omaha, Neb. – Governor Jim Pillen officially proclaimed October as Bioscience Month during Bio Nebraska’s annual event on Thursday, October 2. The announcement highlighted the critical role the biosciences play in Nebraska’s economy, supporting innovation in growing fields such as health care, agriculture, and technology. 

The proclamation underscored the contributions of researchers, entrepreneurs, and companies across the state who are advancing science and improving lives. Bio Nebraska Executive Director Rob Owen praised the proclamation as a meaningful step in showcasing the state’s commitment to strengthening the industry and encouraging the next generation of bioscience professionals.

Proclamation:

The innovative spirit which founded the Great State of Nebraska more than 150 years ago is still alive and well and continues provide wealth to our citizens; and

The State of Nebraska strongly supports the innovative efforts by our state’s diverse bioscience industries to improve human an danimal health, medical research, renewable fuels, and agricultural processing not only to support growth and sustainability, but also to expand trade and national and international markets; and

These efforts deserve the highest recognition and praise for their significant contributions and impact to Nebraska’s economy; without such effort, the State of Nebraska could not hope to prepare its workforce and trade to compete in today’s global economy. 

I, Jim Pillen, Governor of the State of Nebraska, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM the month of October 2025 as 

BIOSCIENCE MONTH

in Nebraska, and I do hereby urge all citizens to take due note of the observance.
